NecroMonk

So I have been working on this little guy called the NecroMonk. Created by Ivan Fomin which you can find at the link below. I thought about doing a full character from an existing concept and just focus on my skills producing one. Overall the process was very rewarding to see develop over time. I would've produced some progress picture, however I was enjoying it so much I had forgotten, so I can only provide screen shots from previous saves. Also I wanted to try some new ways of presenting my work by adding shadows to soften the image, depth of fields, rather then just print screening the model.

Sculpt a theme: Day 5

Orc

Day 5's Orc theme,Though I was having trouble with today's theme. I wanted to revisit the use of female characters. The process was faster then before to get the shape to were I had wanted, which I am happy about but still aiming strive to bring out the femme charms out in a character such as this.

Sculpt a theme: Day 4

Sea Creatures

Day 4's theme Sea creature was chosen to develop my character design taken from a existing concept which is provided at the bottom. The designs I though had an interesting look and be interesting convey in to a sculpture piece, which I hope to have captured within these two. Using the base mesh as a starting point, I pushed and pull the features to the correct position though at the start the model looked nothing as intended, I continued to strived on just to get the sculpture as close to the concept as I could.

Sculpt a theme: Day 3!

Femme Fatal

For day 3's theme I went with Femme Fatal, as I saw my work consist of mostly male characters and wanted to push towards females more, as to be able to capture the subtle hints in a woman's beauty Is a skill I would like to achieve in my future work. However wow this theme was a real struggle, to portray a strong, seductive woman by small but key features, like the softness of the face, but give a sense of character at the same time. The shape of the eyes, the cheek bones and the lustful lips.
The models created today, I haven't really fully captured their beauty but I aim to get closer to that result.

Sculpt a theme: Day 2

Western

I have chosen Western for day two's theme, it was a lot of fun going through this theme, looking up the classic westerners like Wyatt Earp, Clint Eastwood, John Wayne and other side characters that features in the films. As most characters in the western films tend to have a unique look and outfit depending on their position, as we have the smart dressing sheriff in their black clean outfits, compared to the rough outlaw or the scruffy towns folk. Wanting to dive more into the culture, looking up the native Americans as their possible character design would be what I plan to do next.

Sculpt a theme a day challenge!!

Day 1
Facial Hair
I wanted to start a draw a day project/challenge, however gearing it towards sculpting a bit more. So I've started a sculpt a theme a day challenge where I produce as many characters busts as I can, using given theme to speed up my skills and my productivity also learn new tools along the way. Deciding on what to sculpt has been troublesome for me. So I created a list of generic subjects such as bug creatures, stylized detectives and freestyle and so on to help out, which has greatly improved the issue which I'm happy about. Also I used a fantastic bust base created by Leslie Van Den Broeck which can be found at the link provided at the bottom. So I began with the theme facial hair. I've wanted to improve in this area for a long time, so I took this opportunity and went with it. The models from left to right was the order in which these were created.
 the brushes used were:

Using Curve Strap Snap for the first time this was highly rewarding and I can't wait to try to use it to create hair in the future, the brush was mainly used on the last character though, to create the thin facial hair called the fu mancu.

A few close ups.
